1. Editorial Integrity and Objectivity
● Maintain impartiality and avoid decisions influenced by personal, financial, or institutional interests.
● Make editorial decisions solely on the basis of academic merit, scientific quality, originality, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
2. Manuscript Handling and Decision-Making
● Oversee the initial screening of submissions for scope, originality, formatting, and ethics.
● Assign manuscripts to suitable associate editors and expert reviewers using double-blind protocols.
● Ensure each manuscript receives fair, balanced peer review, and make final decisions (accept, revise, reject) based on reviewer feedback and editorial judgment.
● Offer clear, constructive feedback and communicate decisions transparently to authors, explaining the rationale for required changes or rejection.
3. Upholding Review Standards
● Monitor timeliness and quality of the peer review process.
● Protect anonymity and confidentiality of both authors and reviewers throughout the process.
● Address potential conflicts of interest in reviewer assignments; reassign if necessary.
● Intervene if unprofessional, biased, or inappropriate reviewer comments are detected.
4. Ensuring Research and Publication Ethics
● Enforce compliance with ethical standards: plagiarism screening, IRB and informed consent verification, authorship criteria, and proper conflict of interest/funding disclosure.
● Respond promptly to ethical complaints, allegations of scientific misconduct, or disputes, including those raised after publication (e.g., retractions, corrections).
● Safeguard against duplicate publication, redundant submission, and image/data manipulation.
5. Continuous Improvement and Transparency
● Strive for ongoing enhancement of editorial policies and peer review procedures, aligning with best international practices (e.g., COPE, ICMJE guidelines).
● Facilitate editorial training and collaboration to ensure all board members uphold Diabzen’s standards.
● Keep editorial policies, board memberships, and decision processes transparent, updating them regularly on the journal website.
6. Journal Promotion and Innovation
● Promote Diabzen to attract high-quality submissions and expand its scholarly impact.
● Encourage the publication of innovative, interdisciplinary work, including special issues or thematic series, to reflect advances in integrated care and technology.
● Engage in outreach to build a diverse and inclusive author/reviewer community.
7. Handling Appeals and Feedback
● Fairly consider author appeals on editorial decisions, reviewing them independently if needed.
● Welcome and address feedback or criticism regarding editorial policies, striving to enhance trust and communication between authors, reviewers, and the editorial team.
By vigilantly upholding these responsibilities, editors ensure Diabzen remains a trusted, respected voice in the global discourse on cardio-diabetes-renal science and technology.
